RM300 includes the Project AWARE - "Our World, Our Water" book, professional instructor fee and Project AWARE certification card. This course can be taken by divers and non-divers as it does not involve any dives. The AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Course has a main objective of informing divers and non-divers about the plight of the world’s coral reefs. Participants will learn how coral reefs function and why they are so important to conserve. It also reviews why many reefs are in serious trouble and what individuals can do to prevent their further decline. Participants begin the course by reading Chapter Four of the AWARE – "Our World, Our Water" book. They may also watch the Protect the Living Reef video with our instructor. Learning continues with a presentation by our instructor, filled with interesting facts and colourful pictures of the coral reefs and its many inhabitants. Participants may earn the AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation Specialty certification card and/or AWARE Certificate of Participation by completing a set of simple Knowledge Review questions at the end of the presentation. We usually offer this Specialty course in conjunction with our annual Project AWARE Underwater and Beach Cleanup Programme.

on how we can offer a variation of this "course" as part of a school / department / company-organized island trip at a very minimal cost. This course can serve as a good educational input to the school kids / department staffs / company staffs (and their families!) to raise their awareness on the importance of ocean censervation for our future generations. The course presentation can be offered as a prelude to a beach cleanup activity or before the participants go for their snorkeling excursions. At the end of the presentation, each one will receive a Project AWARE Certificate of Participation.
Course Duration: 2 - 3 hours only.
